ALL ASSIGNMENTS THAT ARE NOT AUTO-GRADED VIA CANVAS (E.G., FINAL EXAM OR DISCUSSION AREA POSTS) ARE EXPECTED TO BE SUBMITTED VIA CANVAS USING FILE ATTACHMENTS. PLEASE MAKE YOURSELFS FAMILIAR WITH USING PROGRAMS SUCH AS: MS Word (.doc files), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf files), and any commercial screen shot software (i.e., Snapz Pro, Screencatcher, etc.). THIS IS A MUST FOR THIS CLASS, CONTACT THE INSTRUCTOR IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS POLICY OR NEED ASSISTANCE.

FILE NAMING CONVENTION FOR SUBMITTING ASSIGNMENTS TO CANVAS:

PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING NAMING CONVENTION WHEN SAVING AND SUBMITTING COMPLETED ASSIGNMENT FILES:

lastnamefirstinitialassignment.suffix

For example, for myself I would name my first homework assignment file:

krosjhomework#1.doc

Be forewarned, I will either send your assignments back to you ungraded or downgrade your work if you do not follow this naming convention.

Homework will be assigned according to the tentative schedule presented. Please attempt every problem and feel free to ask me or your fellow students for assistance. However, all homework turned in must be your own work and missed assignments will receive a zero grade. Students are expected to complete the homework and post their finished work to Canvas by the due date. Late homework will not be accepted.

Spreadsheet video tutorials consist of short video lectures pertaining to spreadsheet operation, development, and modeling. Each videos must be watched first which is then followed by a short 5-10 question multiple choice quiz over the video tutorial material. The quizzes can be taken more than once but the videos must all be watched and the quizzes all must be taken to receive credit. There will be no partial credit given here. The purpose of the spreadsheet video tutorials is to prepare students for the spreadsheet modeling that will take place in the course. If you find these videos and quizzes difficult I suggest you obtain a spreadsheet help book (e.g., Spreadsheets for Dummies) and brush up your skills early on in the course (i.e., the first couple of days).

Quizzes will consist of multiple choice and true/false questions. Quizzes will be posted on Canvas and must be taken online.  Each quiz can be taken multiple times until all questions are answered correctly (i.e., you score a 100%). The quizzes are for the students own benefit and can be completed anytime before the due date. Students are to complete the quizzes before 12 midnight of the due date.  If you do not understand this information regarding the quizzes please contact the instructor. Missed quizzes can not be made up and will receive a zero grade.

Exams will cover material from the video lectures, quizzes, homework, and my examples. The problems on the exams will be similar to the homework problems. Missed exams will receive a zero grade. Please make prior arrangements if the exam will be missed.

Final grades will be assigned by letter and will be derived approximately from the grading percentages shown above roughly following the standard +/- scale. I will assign grades on individual assignments according to the ECU +/- scale (A = 4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B = 3.0, B-=2.7, C+=2.3, C = 2.0, C-=1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = 0.7, F = 0.0).

Roughly the following grade cut-offs will be used: above 3.7 = A, above 3.3 through 3.7 = A-, above 3.0  through 3.3 = B+, above 2.8  through 3.0 = B, above 2.5  through 2.8 = B-, above 2.2  through 2.5 = C+, above 1.9  through 2.2 = C, above 1.6  through 1.9 = C-, above 1.3  through 1.6 = D+, above 1.0  through 1.3 = D, above 0.8  through 1.0 = D-, below 0.8 = F. Percentage scores will not be assigned.

Attendance: Timely attendance is the responsibility of the student.  There is no penalty for missed lectures.
