What is Statistical Quality
Control?
The animation to the left is surely not
Statistical Quality Control.
Statistical Quality Control, or SQC,
can be divided into two areas:
1. Acceptance Sampling
2. Statistical Process Control
Acceptance Sampling
Acceptance sampling involves testing
a random sample (not random testing as the animation portrays) and
deciding whether to accept an entire lot based on the quality of the
random sample.
Statistical Process Control
Statistical process control (SPC) involves
testing a random sample of output from a process to determine whether
the process is performing within a preselected range. When the tested
output exceeds the preselected range, it is a signal to adjust the
process to force the output back into the acceptable range.
