Background: Effective management efforts must have a mission so the firm knows where it is headed and a strategy so it knows how to get there. In addition to a mission statement and an effective strategic plan, firms must build and staff the organization. Managers must work with subordinates to build plans, budgets, and programs that will successfully implement strategies that achieve missions.
