Human Resources - Job description and classification

Background:

A job description is one of the most important aspects of human resources and operations management. Without clear job descriptions, employees responsibilities are ambiguous and critical work activities may be unattended to. Job descriptions tend to be written for employees in conjunction with a specific position. Job classification, on the other hand, tends to specify exactly who can do what, when they can do it, and under what conditions they can do it. Strict job classification is often attributed to unions and unionization.

Questions for Thought:

1. Have you ever worked at a job without having a job description?

2. Can you think of certain jobs that do not need a job description?

3. Although the situation is humorous, what should the company do with the employee in question?
