Rounded Rectangle: Research interest
Rounded Rectangle: My current research interest is the development and application of environmental proxies and quantitative (palaeo)environmental reconstruction techniques to improve our understanding of the human impact and the driving mechanisms behind estuarine, coastal and ocean processes over a range of spatial and temporal scales.
My research addresses, through a multidisciplinary approach, the impact on the ecosystems of the recent environmental change: 1-relative sea-level change, 2-geochemical change, as well as 3-human impact in the coastal areas.
My current research areas are the estuaries along the North Atlantic European Coast, with major emphasis in the Portuguese and Spanish estuaries. In these areas we are currently studying the former sea-level over different time scales, from millennia to century scale or even multidecadal changes.
