Eastern North Carolina

Greenville is located approximately an hour east of Raleigh, and is the epicenter of the Eastern North Carolina region. It is home to East Carolina University campuses, a thriving industrial base, Vidant Medical Center, the Grenville Convention Center, and our Uptown District. The Milken Institute recently ranked Greenville among the best performing small metros in the United States.

Located half-way between the Research Triangle Park (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) and the Atlantic Ocean, Greenville is a short drive to multiple beaches in Outer Banks and Crystal Coast. Many opportunities for outdoor activities (fishing, camping, canoeing, hunting, etc.) can be found throughout the region.

Greenville is surrounded by quaint small towns such as New Bern and Kinston with great downtown environments. Also within driving distance are multiple aquarirums, a bird park, and a fossil museum. Kitty Hawk, the site of the first succesful airplane flights by the Wright Brothers, is also a popular resort destination.

Last, but not least, ECU provides various entertainment opportunities through its performing arts center and athletics. Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium hosts several ECU pirates football games during the Fall semester.
